How We Use AI
Yes, we use AI. Here is which tools we use, what each one does, and who is responsible for the result.
What we use
Our AI collaborator. It helps us write, build, and organize, including the search on this site.
We use it to create music.
We use it to create illustrations. We also use it for some research, and as a third-party check that validates and critiques our work.
Who decides
The thinking is mine. The direction is mine. AI is in the shop, and I want you to know that, because I owe you the same transparency I ask of the research I cite.
Who has the authority
I wrote a white paper on this, Beyond the Loop. It argues that having a person "in the loop" is not enough, because the person only sees what the AI has already done. The standard we hold ourselves to is Human Authority at Origination: a person authorizes a consequential action before it happens, not after.
Checking the work
If something here is wrong, that's on me, not the tool I used to build it. I could be wrong about things. That was true before AI and it's true now. What matters is whether I'm checking the work. I am.
The search on this site
The search box finds pages and quotes them. When it shows you an answer, those are our own words from our own pages. It doesn't write new ones.
